Strategy notes, tutorial videos, and outside resources.
Cheetah pinball machine has 62 recorded tournament games in Savage, MN. A game runs about 15m, the median of 61 timed games, so budget for that in a round with a clock on it. The better-ranked player loses here 55% of the time, which puts it at 35/100 for difficulty. That is a low-variance machine: scores hold up and the stronger player usually wins, so it rewards the favorite.
Hold left upper flipper up and shoot the lane behind it. Repeat. There is a video somewhere of Elwin putting over 1 million doing only this.

Shoot the upper drop targets or the lower-right set when lit to advance bonus multipliers. Bonus is a key element!
Completing 1-5 in sequence lights the Collect Bonus saucer, along with other awards listed on the playfield.
Completing the upper right targets with 3 of a kind will light spinners (blue/yellow) or Special (red).
Keep upward and go for the upper orbit using the upper flupper
