Eric Fryc banked 141 points in fifteen events while everyone else played twenty

The NACS series counts a player's best twenty results. Twenty of the twenty-five players in this year's Minnesota top 25 used all twenty slots. Eric Fryc used fifteen.

He finished sixteenth on 141.38 points, which works out to 9.4 points a night. Thirteen of the players who filled all twenty slots averaged less than that. Five more events at anything like his rate would have put him inside the top ten.

What the underlying numbers say

A 48% game win rate is sixth-best in this year's top 25. On raw playing strength Fryc belongs higher than sixteenth, and the gap between his strength and his ranking is a question of how many nights he turns up.

May 31, 68 players

His best result of 2026 is the LITT May Open, won out of 68 players. He also won the August 2024 LITT open out of 68. Two monthly opens at the same venue, two years apart, both out of identical fields.

Sixteen outright wins plus three shared firsts from 108 events. Four of those wins came in fields of 57 or more, which among the players ranked between fifth and fifteenth only Chris Frame can match.

Where he plays

Five rooms with real samples and an average finish under 2.10 in four of them. The Blainbrook reading of 2.33 is the usual story for a player from outside Blaine.

The records

One hundred and seventeen games against Reardon, three places above him, at 55.6%. Eighty against Hammond at 58.1%, with 21 ties in there, which is a lot of shared positions across a deep sample.

The names that cost him: Bryan Moen at 1-6-1, Neil Graf at 1-6-3, Adam Turgeson at 6-12, Jared Eshelman at 8-16 and Joshua Anderson at 6-12-1.

Against Mark Larson he is 26-36-4 over 66 games, which is one of the better marks anybody holds on the state's No. 2, and against Chris Frame 9-13 over 22.

Machines

Eighteen games of Jurassic Park with eight firsts, eight seconds and two thirds, and no fourth place at all. Seventeen games of Guardians of the Galaxy with twelve firsts. Those two are the ones to respect.

The Guardians number is the mirror image of Andy Fleming one place above him, who sits at 33.3% over 19 games on the same machine. Same rooms, same era, a 0.40 gap in score.

His weak spots:

• Mustang (LE), 0.389 over 13 games, a 37.8% win rate
• Comet, 0.410 over 13 games
• Demolition Man, 0.428 over 9 games
• Bobby Orr's Power Play, 0.429 over 9 games

Mustang is the pick, and it is a useful one, because the state's No. 1 runs an 83.6% win rate on it over 48 games. Two players in the same rooms, the same machine, a 0.43 gap.

The season

Fryc's fifteen counted events are the story. His entry streak reads one month, and September gave him a fourth of 20 at the Super Ball XL finals, a field that held ten of the names in this year's top 25.

For a player with the sixth-best game win rate in the state, a full calendar in 2027 would put him in a very different conversation.

If you draw him

Mustang (LE) or Comet, where 26 games between them have him under 40%.
